Soon after the end of the Second World War, a new concept took root in America. With many battle-tested vehicles becoming available to the general American public for civilian use, off-roading emerged as a hot favourite hobby. These vehicles were strongly built, sturdy, and came with a raw engine power which enabled them to travel with ease over virtually any unpaved surface. Thus, was born the concept of off-roading. India too has seen a steep rise in the number of off-roading enthusiasts in recent years. Regions like the Himalayas, the Thar desert, and a host of other catchments offered excellent opportunities to off-road. However, the dearth of suitable off-roading vehicles in India served as the biggest hindrance to the development of this activity.

But soon, things changed. A host of carmakers started offering off-roading capabilities in their cars making them suitable for both urban commutes as well as off-roading.
